Dr. Catherine Creticos

Dr. Catherine Creticos is a physician specializing in Infectious Diseases and has been in private practice for 25 years in the Chicagoland area.  She received her M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Loyola University of Chicago, and did her fellowship in Infectious Diseases from Loyola University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Throughout her career she has also been devoted to research, clinical care, and education around HIV/AIDS medicine.  She is the co-medical director of the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center, and the Associate Medical Director of Howard Brown Health Center, where she also provides direct patient care and is the principal investigator on a number of clinical research studies.

On being elected to the Board of Directors, Dr. Catherine Creticos had the following thoughts:

“I am extremely thrilled and proud to be a member of the Board of Directors of Washington Square Health Foundation.  As a practicing physician, I constantly confront challenges caring for patients with inadequate health care resources, which can significantly limit proper clinical care.  Washington Square Health Foundation’s mission to target programs and supply grants that are geared to address these concerns is vital work.  WSHF fulfills this mission through providing grants for research, education, and direct patient care programs and materials, matching my own areas of interest and work in my career. I find particularly exciting the capacity for WSHF grants to act as seed money for the development of exciting new programs and endeavors, and through matching grants to assist grantees in securing additional funds to accomplish even greater goals.

Furthermore, WSHF has been able to act as a catalyst to grantees not only financially but also in terms of promoting cooperative endeavors through networking and technical assistance provided by WSHF.  I am greatly looking forward to the opportunity to work with other WSHF Board members in accomplishing the Foundation’s mission.  Finally, I feel a tremendous personal connection to the Foundation through the life-long commitment of my father, Dr. Angelo Creticos, to the same principles embraced by the mission of the Foundation, and through his 24 years of service to Washington Square Foundation, from its inception until his passing.”
